Timber floor

When I started researching on available flooring options in NZ about a year ago, we were surprised how expensive flooring in general is. Most interestingly, that everywhere-used carpet floor isn’t much cheaper than a really nice timber floor. Still, timber (especially when glued down) is more of a rare thing to see in this country. We also considered polished concrete as that was suggested by many friends and also by our builder, but even with proper underfloor heating, a concrete floor never creates a warm and cosy feeling.

Available timber floor options are far from what we were used to from Europe. Just a small selection, but one specific oak sample drew our attention very quickly. It’s a 21 mm 10-layer timber floor that comes with a band sawn effect and is custom sanded and oiled on site.
