Since Miocene, sedimentation has occurred throughout the Taranaki Region, generating sandstones, soft mudstones, and some limestone. The most impressive Limestone range can be seen north New Plymouth from Tongaporutu to Mokau. There are several roads that lead either to vista points or walkways. The White Cliffs and the Two (formerly three) Sisters are sights that aren’t to be missed on a trip to the west coast. Especially when you know that the amount of siblings seems to be in constant decrease :( Both walkways can only be accessed safely at low tide.
