Planting zone 1

Now we can finally start planting the “inner ring” of plants that are closest to our house. While our orchard and veggie beds are already thriving for months, we had to wait with the garden plants until the landscaping works were finished.

Our selected plants for the hot and dry deck side: Slow growing chilean wine palms, cycads, hebes, mountain flaxes, pseudopanaxes and tagasastes to protect the others from the winds.

On the northern side we have fishtail- and other palms, a giant bird of paradise, a kowhai and some more plants we don’t know the names of.

The shaded eastern side got tree ferns, fuchsias and other more wind- and draught-sensitive plants.
